Leisurely Stroll through Berkeley Springs State Park.
Perhaps you arrived in the early afternoon and are looking for some activities. Visit “The Square” area of Berkeley Springs and enjoy the Berkeley Springs State Park where you can see for yourself where the warm mineral springs naturally bubble up, sample the sparkling and abundant natural water, wade in the soothing mineral springs as the colonials did since the mid 1700s or swim in the community pool.

Historic Movie Theater. See a movie at The Depression-Era Star Movie Theater. It lights up the block north of the springs with its neon marquee. A traditional neighborhood mom and pop movie house with the best popcorn in four states, the Star shows a movie every weekend night.

In 1984, local citizens established the Museum of the Berkeley Springs. on the second floor of the Roman Bath House. Exhibits in the Museum include geology of the springs, Native American artifacts, James Rumsey, historic bathing wear, Tomato Festival, Berkeley Springs Hotels of the Past, George Washington, Porte Crayon sketches and others. The museum is free to the public and open at least on weekends from March through December. Previous uses of the second floor of the Roman Bath House included a Reading Room in the 1830s and doctor’s office in the 1890s. 20th century uses were as the American Legion, Band Room and Senior Center.

Walking Tour. Enjoy the fresh air and take a walking tour of the Berkeley Springs State Park that’s located in the square of downtown Berkeley Springs.

Treasure and Walking Tour brochure guides can be picked up at the Visitor’s Center (from the office of Berkeley Springs Cottage Rentals, 120 Independence St., go to the stop sign at the intersection of Washington St. and Independence St. make a left onto Washington St. go to the first traffic light at the Town Square, get into the left hand turn lane, turn left onto Fairfax St. got to the end of the center island divider, just past the end of the divider on your left hand side is the Visitor Center at the intersection of Fairfax St. and Green St.) or at Berkeley Springs Cottage Rentals Office.

Occasionally 10 a.m., there are readings from Washington's journals and letters at the Morgan County Library in a restored brick Victorian in the center of town.

Before leaving the Berkeley Springs area, be sure to stop at the Berkeley Springs Farmer's market held every Sunday morning in the town center in front of the old courthouse. Held from May to October.
